Proverbs 17:16-18

¹⁶ Why is there a price in the hand of a fool to ^(A)acquire wisdom,
When ^[a]he has no heart of wisdom?
¹⁷ A ^(B)friend loves at all times,
And a brother is born for adversity.
¹⁸ A man lacking a heart of wisdom ^(C)strikes his ^[b]hands in pledge
And becomes guarantor in the presence of his neighbor.
